A Rhody Girl's Guide To Fall

Fall is officially here, and it's one of the best times of year to live in Rhode Island. Since I'm the biggest fall fanatic, I decided to write a post about the best season in the best state (for the best blog).

What To Do

1. Spring Hill Sugarhouse & Farm - Richmond, RI

Saturday's during the fall are always my favorite, but if you're looking for a fun outdoor activity, make sure to check out Spring Hill Sugarhouse & Farm. This beautiful pumpkin patch is located in Richmond, RI and is the ideal way to spend a fall day with friends, your significant other, or your kids! If you're looking for the perfect Instagram opportunity, the pumpkin patch is surrounded by a beautiful sunflower field (See photo above.), which is sure to make your fellow Instagramer's go wild!

2. Pippin Orchard Farms - Cranston, RI

Nothing screams fall in Rhode Island quite like picking apples and baking a homemade apple pie. My apple picking experience at Pippin Orchard Farms was nothing short of perfect: the apples were all in excellent condition, and just the right size for our apple pie. Make sure to check out the store there and buy one of their warm blueberry pies, salted pumpkin seeds, apple cider, and last but not least, pick up a bottle of Rhode Island's best hot sauce.

3. Newport Vineyards - Newport, RI

This was a fabulous way to spend a day with friends. For $12, you get to sample 5 different wines and tour the vineyard. We chose to do wine by the glass after our tasting and purchased cheese and crackers from the food stand to enjoy as we sat outside and looked out over the vineyard. On your way out, be sure to grab one of their 'ice wines', which is a sweeter wine that's hand pressed from the grapes after the first frost of the season.

What To Eat And Drink

Fall is the time of year to indulge in some warm, delicious treats, and start preparing for the winter hibernation. Here are some of my favorites:

1. Venda Ravioli, Providence, RI

Two words... pumpkin ravioli. If you've stopped by the Columbus Day Festival on Federal Hill, you know that Venda Ravioli puts out the best spread of Italian food, and my favorite dish is the pumpkin ravioli! The pumpkin ravioli is fried to perfection with a crispy exterior smothered in cinnamon and sugar and served with a mascarpone dipping sauce. (Pick these up in the freezer section and make them at home for the yummiest dessert.)

2. Greenwich Bay Oyster Bar, East Greenwich, RI

Summer is over, but I still love a raw bar and some seafood, even during the fall and winter. Greenwich Oyster Bar is the ideal date night spot if you're a seafood lover like me! For our Greenwich Oyster Bar experience, we started with 12 raw oysters which were from three different locations, and then ordered the clams casino, which were cooked to perfection. My favorite part of our meal was the appetizer order of "Sticky Calamari", which was fried and tossed in a honey balsamic glaze, served with hot pepper rings and was big enough to share and still have some left over. When you're at an oyster bar, it's only appropriate to get a glass of Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc, which was the ultimate addition to our dinner.

3. Starbucks
I know it's fall and it's a sin if you don't get the PSL from Starbucks, but I promise the Salted Caramel Mocha is sure to please and is the best fall treat - It tastes like a dessert!

What To Wear

This is that awkward time of year when you dress like it's 20 degrees in the morning, and by mid afternoon, you've sweat most of your clothes and makeup off. Here are some of my favs to layer for the chilly mornings (and nights) this fall:

1. Fall Booties

What's cuter than a pair of ankle booties for fall? I love all of the booties, but I'm not loving some of the prices. I found a beautiful camel colored pair on Lulus.com for $34 and they're the most comfortable shoes ever! Click here to find out more and make sure to check out the other colors too.

2. #SweaterWeather

Click here for more details about this sweater.

3. Big, Fuzzy, Warm Scarves

Because everyone needs a great plaid scarf and a fun faux fur one too...Find them at NastyGal And Lulus

4. And last but not least - Makeup!

Like many of you, I was mortified at the idea that this season's look didn't involve heavy contouring to create a dramatic and sexy look. But during a recent trip to Sephora, I tried Strobing for the first time and fell in love. Some products that you need to add to your collection to try this look include:

I promise with these products, you'll love strobing even more than contouring, and you'll have a new and super sassy look this season!

Enjoy fall, and be good to each other!
