Not A Beach Day: Four Other Cool Ways To Enjoy The Ocean House In WH

Don't have a breakdown.

Just take a break.

At one of my fav places in Rhode Island, and the entire world for that matter, The Ocean House Resort And Spa!

The OH (in Watch Hill, RI) was recently voted the #1 Resort in the Continental US by Travel + Leisure - No surprise to those of us who've had the good fortune to stay there. Yup, I'm lucky. True Story: It's also the closest I'll ever come to living an actual Instagram (and Pinterest) worthy existence, full of spectacular views, perfectly decorated interiors, food presented so artfully that it begs to be Instagram'ed and top notch service. (Q: If I don't take a pix with my I-Phone and upload it to Instagram or Facebook, did it really happen?)

If you can't swing an overnight stay right now because you're swamped, go for the day. That's right: Take a daycation there this winter. Say see ya to stress and heyyy to five star living.

Sure it's cold and snowy outside (#NotBeachWeather), but there are still plenty of things you can do at the OH to recharge and kick back and relax. Here are four of them:

1. Schedule A Spa Appointment

Biggest mistake I made the last time I stayed at the OH? NOT getting a massage. The massages (I've had) there have been some of the best I've ever had. Ever. In my entire life. I'm also a big believer in the power of massage to help melt away stress and help keep your body and mind healthy long term.

The OH Spa offers a full menu of services daily, including everything from mud wraps and facials to mani's and pedi's and special deluxe packages (including one for Mom's To Be). One caveat - You should really book in advance.

2. Grab A Bite

Post spa, head over to the Seasons, their restaurant that offers an outstanding view of the Atlantic as well as an extensive lunch menu of salads, soups and 'light fare' like the bento boxes that I live on whenever I'm there. Healthy and delicious. Speaking of deliciousness, I hear they also serve complimentary (aka, FREE) hot chocolate or hot cider on winter afternoons. Full Disclosure: I may have pigged out on free cookies while hanging out on the OH veranda one afternoon a few summers ago.

3. Get Yourself Over To The Gift Shop And Splurge On Some Saint James

The OH Gift Shop is small, but so impressive in terms of selection. For one, they carry Saint James, including their signature striped tees, which I continue to be not-so-secretly obsessed with. (Btw, there is no truth to the rumor that I room charged a $400 pair of Saint James leather pants last time I stayed at there. Lusted after? Yes. Room charged? No.) In addition to French casual chic clothing, they also offer a well curated selection of cashmere, flats, handbags, estate jewelry and gift-y items like books, stationary and OH shirts and totes. True Story: I have one of the OH totes and people have actually stopped me when I'm carrying it to tell me how much they love the Ocean House. #Funny #IDontOwnThePlace

4. Go On A Treasure Hunt

Try to find this five dollar bill. 👓😉

And, finally, you never know who you'll see there:
