My RI Life, Christmas & Beyond Edition, With Author Rebecca Keister

It’s officially Christmastime in the city, which means most of us are quite busy holidaying - jubilant celebrations, gift shopping and tree-lighting are all very nice, but they are only a few of the wintertime activities awaiting you in our beautiful city.

Here are a few suggestions for enjoying yourself throughout the season

Ice Skating Under the Stars: Lace up your skates, grab your sweetie’s mitten-clad hand and head on over to Alex and Ani City Center through March for one of the most romantic outside dates you can have during winter in the city. Gaze up at the stars as you twirl around with your special someone then head on over to Milk Money on South Water Street for a cozy tapas dinner where you’ll likely find jolly diners and a cozy atmosphere perfect for some post-skating canoodling.

Rhode Island Brew Fest: The fifth annual event happens Jan. 28, 2017 at the historic Gamm Theatre in Pawtucket. For one day - split into two sessions - the former armory is transformed into a beer lover’s paradise where lager-lovers can sample pours from Rhode Island breweries and many more. There’s also plenty of local cuisine and other vendors to peruse. Get your tickets early, folks - this event always sells out!

Trivia Night at Chelo's: One of my favorite ways to unwind while getting out during the long winter days is to round up some friends and pop into Chelo's - a sometimes overlooked Rhode Island restaurant institution - for a cheerful game of pub trivia and a good, old-fashioned classic American meal

Don’t forget, “100 Things to Do in Providence Before You Die” is an excellent choice for anyone on your holiday shopping list! From the RI native who will get a kick of ticking off the bucket list items they’ve completed to a relative you’re trying to tempt into visiting or your Secret Santa, there’s no one who won’t love getting this insider’s guide to the city and beyond. Autographed copies are available at Books on the Square in Wayland Square.
