Hi! I’m Dr. Mary Claire Dilks. I grew up outside of Detroit, moved to Chicago for undergrad, spent a year in Rome, Italy, then moved to Brooklyn, NY. In 2004 my husband and I moved to Rhode Island, and I love it here! I can count the number of times I’ve been back to NYC on one hand - that says a lot!

My award winning Chinese Medicine practice, Emerging Energy Acupuncture, sits in the Imperial Knife Building in the Jewelry/Knowledge District of Providence. The historic beams and brick remind me of an era when we valued things built to last and true craftsmanship. I think Rhode Island is on the forefront of the craft movement, where people value local and handmade.

Pearl Apothecary, my line of skincare and aromatherapy products founded in 2014, fuses ancient Chinese Herbal wisdom with modern science and precious essential oils to create small batch skin care products made in Providence. People love my paraben-free Reishi Body Lotion and herbal creams for eczema! Find them on etsy. While there, check out my Acupressure Bracelets for nausea (for those of us who are fashion conscious AND have motion sickness).

I love shopping local and supporting small business. One of my favorite shops to freshen up my wardrobe is Shoppe Pioneer on South Main Street in Providence. They just expanded to carry kids and home products too!

Eating is one of my favorite activities, and we have ah-MAZING food here in Rhode Island, right? I live on the West Side, so I’ll often dine locally in the neighborhood and go to Slow Rhode. I absolutely love their Duck Drummettes and their Burger (yes to the bacon!). Best Burger in Providence.

For Fish Tacos, I head to Tallulah’s Tacqueria in Providence. Basil Limeade? YUM!

On the way home I usually stop at North Bakery for one of their divine cookies. I love the classic Salted Chocolate Chip.

One of the best things about Rhode Island is that I can live in a city and drive to the ocean in under an hour. I love Gooseberry in Newport - it’s like an instant vacation where you can get the most delicious fresh Strawberry Lemonade.
