This Award Winning Stylist Has An At Home Conditioning Treatment You Can Do While You're Isolating

Now that your scalp is oh-so-fresh from last week’s deep cleanse, I’m asking you to step away from the blow dryer and put down your straightening and curling irons.  

Use this time at home to repair your hair: Cut back on washing! And unbox those hair masks you’ve been meaning to dip into. 

Start with clean, dry hair and gently brush from the ends up to the root (to help avoid breakage), then do your 50 fairy tale strokes.

Take your time. There’s no rush, you’re not going anywhere anyway.

Apply a rich deep conditioning mask from roots to ends. (I really love Aveda’s Dry Remedy Mask.)

Thoroughly coat your hair and give yourself a light scalp massage. A scalp massage can reduce muscle tension, stimulate growth, and even reduce blood pressure. (And who couldn’t use some of that right now?)

Twist your hair into a loose bun. You can use a shower cap to keep your hair warm, but no biggie if you don’t have one. You can also use a hair dryer to warm it up. (I know, I know…I said step away, but it’s okay for the purpose of warming the masque.) I recommend leaving it on for 20 minutes or more. 

Maybe use this time to journal. That’s what I’m trying to do. In the years to come we are going to look back on these strange times and you will have something to share with your grandchildren and their children. 

Or go clean, prep for dinner, fold laundry, whatever. 

I like to rinse with warm water and of course some shampoo, no need to condition.

Gently wring out your hair with a towel. Next, use a wide tooth comb.

That’s it, now let your hair air dry and relax (again, you’re not going anywhere). Maybe throw it up in a messy bun with a soft scrunchy.

And don’t wash it for as long as you can stand. Let your natural oils do the work for the next couple of days.
