2 Terrific Coastal Christmas Trees In Rhode Island That You'll Want To See

See this content in the original post

Christmas in New England means two things — obsessively checking the forecast for snow (this Wednesday is looking like a very real possibility) and lobstah trap trees (like the one below in Provincetown) popping up in your feeds.

Other coastal towns and cities that have turned these into a buzz-y holiday tradition include Kennebunkport and Rockland (Maine) and Gloucester (Massachusetts) which has been credited with originating this whimsical nautical spin on xmas decor way back in 2001.

Yup, it’s a thing from Maine to Massachusetts and even in parts of Florida where they bundle up when it’s below 60 degrees Fahrenheit (I have seen with my own eyes and can vouch) and try to snap Insta worthy photos of these babies.

Even if you haven’t put up a tree yet (or not at all) this year, going in search of a local version is a nice, low key way to get into the spirit. This is the 1st year that Stonington (Connecticut) is unveiling one — how about Rhode Island tho?

Now I heard there’s one on Block Island, but that’s another adventure for 2022, so let’s file it away for the time being. The ones that are a bit easier to access (in other words, no need to hop on a boat) are located in Newport and Narragansett respectively.

So, charge up that smart phone and head on over to The Lobster Shack at 150 Long Wharf (not far from the famous Belle’s and just before Goat Island, photos are above) or new-this-year Clarke Road in Gansett (photos below). Or both.
