We Had Lunch At This Newport Restaurant And It's As Amazing As Ever

Non Tourist-y Newport

Open since 2015 and under the Russell Morin umbrella (as a matter of fact we spotted some muffins made from Grandma Morin’s recipe the other day), CRU Cafe is in the heart of NPT, around the corner from the Audrain Auto Museum, and is always hopping.

Yesterday was no different: Friend groups. Families. Couples. And even pet pawrents out on the patio with their (leashed) pups.

It’s another one of those spots that the locals really LOVE year round and frequent on the regular.

I first discovered this place by way of my niece B. who used to be an event planner and is thus a serious fan of Russell Morin. (Their storefront next door is where you can go if you yourself or someone in your world is planning a wedding or special event.)

Anywho, everything is cooked up fresh while you wait (you can see the kitchen off to the side as you are ordering at the counter) and you get to pick from a huge menu of breakfast all day faves as well as scrumptious lunch classics.

Also, the selection of baked-in-house goodies (in addition to Grammy Morin’s muffins I spotted APPLE CIDER DOUGHNUTS, scones, and cookies) is way, WAY too tempting!

I ordered the Avocado Toast (sans bacon) and the hubs got a Cheese Omelette. We split a small order of their Classic Tots. The verdict? Yum, Yum, And YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM.

It was still pretty mild outside, too, so we sat outside on that charming front patio at a mini picnic table near the entrance.

To be honest, we were extemely lucky to even grab a seats anywhere yesterday because they were non-stop, even filing beaucoup takeout orders for folks waiting on the sidewalk.

And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention how NICE the women who took our orders and served our food were. (As someone who was a manager at Nordstrom for 13 yrs, I appreciate great service tremendously.)
