The Sweet Coffee Shop In Matunuck You'll Want To Visit This Summer

Sunshine, Cawfee On Ice, And Surfers

Last time I was in Matunuck, it was grey and chilly.

Yesterday, however, was one of those picture perfect June days in the Ocean State.

Been there lately?

You’re probably already well acquainted with Matunuck Oyster Bar (watch Perry Raso’s Ted Talk from the very first Ted X Providence at the Columbus Theater on Broadway, so inspiring), Theater By The Sea, and Ocean Mist.

Might I also humbly suggest a cold beverage and a nosh at Surfside Coffee , followed by a stroll down Matunuck Beach Road? (Just so we’re clear, I’m completely jealous of anyone who owns a cottage or trailer on that street this time of year.)

If (like me) you listen to Rob Lowe’s podcast Literally or if you read Jennifer Grey’s memoir last year, the way they talk about Malibu in the 1970’s and early 80’s (when it was a relaxed, laid back and beach-y little enclave, before it became a playground for gazillionaires) perhaps reminds you too of our very own Matunuck, Rhode Island?

I mean, that green beach wagon at Matunuck Surf Shop is straight outta my 1970’s childhood in the Ocean State.

There’s so much that whispers peak summah sea-sun in Rhode Island — the surfers at paddling at Deep Hole Fishing Area, the beach bungalows with weather worn shingles (some originals remain although there’s no denying that there’s a ton of newbies from modest to those bordering on McMansion territory nowadays), and natives out and about walking dogs and whatnot.

It really doesn’t get any better around these parts! (A great friend of mine always says that Matunuck is “God’s Country.”)

Find Surfside Coffee at 920 Matunuck Beach Road.

As always, if you motor over after reading this, please let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
