We Visited This Sweet, New Cheese Shop On Providence's East Side

There’s a brand new cheese shop in the Wayland Square neighborhood in Providence and I am hooked.

I mean, all I know about cheese is that I absolutely LOVE eating it, especially getting a taste of a bona fide Parmigiana Reggiano…more about that in a second. (By the way, just found out that the technical term for cheese lover is turophile, rooted in the Greek words for cheese and love of: tyros and philos.)

If you’re in the same boat, just leave everything to Angie & Jeff — you might already know them from their blog Providence Date Night — the founders and proprietors of East Side Cheese & Provisions on S. Angell Street in PVD, next to Paper Nautilus and across from Cafe L’Artisan.

Let them take the wheel (get it…cheese WHEEL, lol) and guide you through their top shelf selection of all kinds of scrumptious cheeses, both local and imported varieties.

I highly encourage you to bike, walk, motor, scooter or skip over asap and pick up some delectable and delightful nibbles: In addition to cheeses, they also have everything else you could want or need to create a five star charcuterie board or antipasto.

Don’t have the time or energy for that? They actually have pre-made boards you can pick up that are sure to impress even the most persnickety person in your inner circle of family and friends. (On top of all that, yours truly spotted other tasty items including babka from the team at Navad, formerly known as Buns Bakery.)

I walked out last night with a pep in my step and a mini board as well as some of their house label Angell Street Cheddar, a piece of Stompetoren Grand (love the delicate crunch and oh-so-subtle saltiness), and that Parmigiana Reggiano DOP (which will transport you to Northern Italy, if only for a few short minutes).

Find East Side Cheese & Provisions at 17 S. Angell Street in Providence, Rhode Island. They are open Wednesday thru Sunday, 10am to 6pm, so plan accordingly.

As always, if you go after reading this, please let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
