The Chocolate And The Guava & Sweet Cream Cube Croissants At Cafecito PVD

The hubs and I had brunch at the NEW latin-inspired cafe in Providence — Taiyaki Cafecito — on Dean Street on the outskirts of Federal Hill yesterday.

It is in the same location as Helado Taiyaki. New owners and new name but you’ll be happy to hear that they are continuing with the ice cream in those fish shaped cones and the wildly popular CUBE CROISSANTS while adding some wonderful items to their menu.

We tried their Crostadas, toasts that are made not with boring ole bread and I believe are brand-y NEW. These toasts are created using made-in-house flat croissants. Yes, they are as scrumptious as they sound.

I ordered their Avocado Crostada with an egg, and Tom had the Guava + Cheese (with HOT honey) one. They were absolutely delicious and generously sized. For the record no one likes a skimpy toast.

The drinks options are plentiful and run the gamet from coffee drinks (I had the Tres Leche Latte and would recommend that to any and all java lovers) to refreshers (their Passionfruit one is a winner).

But let’s get to the sweets. I mean, the cube croissants are showstoppers.

Today the selection included these four delectable flavors — Chocolate (with choc filling), Guava & Sweet Cream, Cookie Butter Cream Filled, and Vanilla Cream Filled (with crushed pistachio on top).

They are ginormous, so you can easily share with your significant other or your inner circle who believe you me, will be impressed by this culinary marriage of sweet, crunchy and smooth (the filling).

And I am fairly certain that Cafecito is the only place in R.I. baking these up on a regular basis.
