RI Style Diaries: Why I Heart This Home Store
The Container Store.
They have so much great stuff there, right?
And if (like me) you live to shop for clothes, shoes, boots and bags, you've probably figured out that you must keep everything super organized or else risk complete and utter chaos.
Don't believe me?
Check out my personal photo diary (aka, Instagram posts) of closet chaos:
That's right. My closet. Pre-Purge.
So despite having a California Closet (#Lucky.), I have at times lost control of it.
Then, last year, The Container Store opened a brand new location nearby.
Not gonna lie (bad liar, terrible actress), I could probably spend 1-2K there in one trip, but I've narrowed my list down to the best and most affordable things that you (and I) need to get and stay organized. Because anyone can organize (or lose weight), the trick is the maintenance. Maintaining is where it's at people.
1. Huggable Hangers - $8.99 for a Ten Pack
Plastic hangers tend to stretch out your sweaters and tees. And they break. Wooden hangers get dusty and take up too much space. Get yourself some of these thin, textured ones. Immediately. Especially if you own anything with spaghetti straps or a wide neckline. No more picking those things up off the closet floor. Problem solved: They are non-slip. #Yay
2. Boot Shapers - $9.99 per pair
Nothing worse than when your high boots are flopping over and losing their shape. These are like Viagra for your boots. Now, I once read a tip about using rolled up magazines to help keep your boots' shape and prop them up. Psssheww! Don't bother. Boot Shapers are the only way to go, especially because "they" give you the option of either leaving your boots on the floor or hanging them. (FYI: There's a plastic hook inside each one.) And WHO doesn't like having options?
3. The 3 Drawer Shoe Cabinet - $119
Alright, this cabinet is a splurge, but if you have more than a dozen pairs of shoes (Come on, you do, don't you?), it's worth every $$$. It also has the sleek secret agent-y vibe to it. Impress your friends with it. They'll think you're pretty cool. When they see there are shoes and not office supplies inside. One last thing - It's made in Italy and everyone knows that's a sure sign of exceptional QUALITY.
Other Essentials From The Container Store:
The Wool & Cashmere Shampoo from The Laundress (Wash your knits with this and make them way SOFTER. And I just spied on the CS site that "fashion designers and editors are ardent fans". SEE - Told ya!); cedar sachets (Save all your wools from the horror of moth holes. Or put these in your shoes. No one wants to smell stinky feet or stinky shoes. Not. Sexy.)
