There's More To Watch Hill RI Than Just Taylor Swift

Ever since Taylor Swift bought a house in Watch Hill, RI, in 2013, more and more people have been flocking there during the summer to try to catch a glimpse.

But there's so much more to WH than TS.

With that in mind, here's a list of must do's in Watch Hill for you and anyone you love enough to share it with:

1. Lunch Or Dinner At The Olympia Tea Room

As you can see from their coasters, the Tea Room has been open since 1916. And they just re-opened for the season yesterday (April 2, 2015 to be exact). The inside is neat with its pink walls and ceiling, black and white tile floor (Call it art deco.) and paintings done by the owner's wife hanging on the walls, but during the spring and summer, when the weather heats up, it's way cooler to sit outside to eat (Every meal I've had there has been a winner.) and people watch. You never know who will walk by. After all, it has been rumored for years that everyone from Oprah to more recently, Selena Gomez (good friend of T. Swift's) is looking at property in WH.

PattyJ Tip: Be warned, as regulars and locals know, every year, the Olympia menu features a different story (aka, tall tale) about the origins of the restaurant. One year it was something about Humphrey Bogart filming a movie in WH back in the day. (I fell for it btw.) Who knows what it will be this year?

2. Ice Cream At St. Clair Annex

The ice cream here has been legit handmade on the premises since before you were born (1887 to be more precise) and by the same family too. Kind of a huge deal. Every summer, one of my brothers has a contest with his daughter to see who can eat the most flavors from the menu, so you know all of them are delicious. St. Clair is also a great option for a casual lunch or dinner after beaching it. And you never know who you'll run into. Case in point, the pic of late night talk show host Conan O'Brien (above) with my sister-in-law.

3. Maybe You'll Get An Invite To A Party At The Penthouse At The Ocean House?

The Penthouse at the OH is nice, real nice! Beyond luxurious. And don't get me started about the view. #Perfect. Anyway, I once went to party there that had a Dean Martin impersonator all the way from LA and several members of the cast of The Sopranos. (The guy on the right in the photo above is actually my brother-in-law and not part of The Sopranos in any way.) Not too shabby.

4. Watch The Sunset In Town

I took this picture two years ago (from the balcony of the condos on Main St.), but I'm fairly certain that the sunset will be equally beautiful, if not more so, this year.

Ciao for Now,
