RI Style Diaries: The Famous Wheeler Clothing & More Sale

Don't mean to brag, but (**clears throat**) I happen to have some pretty exciting news about The Famous Wheeler Clothing & More Sale that kicks off its 68th year next week, on Thursday, April 14th, at 10am, to be more precise. (I have a source. Wink, wink.) Apparently, this year, there are some incredible never worn dresses and gowns - That's right, NEVER WORN. - that have been donated by some of RI's best known, and most highly regarded, boutiques and speciality stores. Translation? Fashion with a capital F people! So, hold on to your Louie bag and roll up your sleeves because during this iconic event, at 407 Brook Street on Providence's East Side, absolutely everyone suddenly turns into a bargain hunter. #itsthethingtodo 

First off, you should know (and I'm thrilled to pieces to tell you) that the owner of LaBottega, Deborah D’Antuono, has generously donated over 50 never worn designer dresses and gowns. (See photo above, of the cocktail dress, for a sneak peak.) Uh, wowww! She made this gracious donation while preparing to retire from retail and close her widely popular store after 36 years of outfitting some of the best dressed women in the Ocean State and beyond. (We all have those sartorial star friends or fam who shopped big time at LB.) More fab-u-lous news? Those gowns and dresses will be part of a special boutique section within the 'pop up' department store currently being created in the Wheeler gymnasium for next week's sale. And, as if that wasn't enough to make you want to line up extra early April 14th thru the 16th to shop (Patty J Tip: Wear your comfiest pair of flats. If you don't own any flats, 'borrow' them from your sister's closet and then, feign ignorance when she's searching frantically for them. Have you seen my shoes? Nope! #workseverytime), there will also be sizable offerings from both RGE of Warwick, and Sonya’s of Cranston. I mean, can you stand it or what? I can't wait!
