Why It's Stylish To Wear Your Heart On Your Sleeve This Valentine's
Valentine’s Day is special to me because my husband sent me the most gorgeous hand made watercolor (Photo above.) when we had just started dating, 8 years ago. It took me by surprise, because I was trying to play it cool and not get ahead of myself. At the time, we were in a long distance relationship. I remember opening the Fed Ex package as rose petals fell out, and pulling out the small, square painting of a heart with our names, painted in his signature architectural style. Keep in mind we had only gone on two dates, but had dated 30 years before, in college, before going our separate ways. My mouth dropped open and I swear I saw my life pivot and change in that instant. Maybe that’s why I love to design sweaters that feature hearts. I can’t recall ever doing that prior to our reunion.
Here are my recommendations for a wonderful Valentines Day:
- You can’t go wrong taking your love to Loie Fuller at 1455 Westminster Street in Providence. It’s a beautiful and romantic Art Nouveau setting, and the French food is delicious.
- While my favorite gift is something shiny from Swarovski, I have received some gorgeous gifts from The Boutique at Magnolia recently and it’s my new favorite gift shop. I like unusual pieces with a little glamour, and you will definitely find that here, at 1375 Park Avenue in Cranston.
- My favorite flower is the lowly carnation - a huge bouquet of pink carnations makes me so happy. We have never been disappointed by Woodlawn Florist, at 728 Pontiac Avenue. They have some cool, unusual ideas and they’re very helpful.
- Please enjoy my Valentine Sweater at 50% off, to wear on Valentines Day or any day. It’s in a light weight, soft cotton, and comes in two colors in sizes S - XL. No coupon code is needed - the price is reflected on the site, www.elanacarellosweaters.com.
My model is the smart, accomplished and gorgeous Allie Curtis, Miss RI/America 2015. My daughters and I are avid readers of her blog. She’s going to be the first woman president, so get to know her.
