The Famous Sale Event People Wait All Year For? It's Almost Here!

I asked Leslie Tente - friend, occassional contributor to PattyJ.com, and parent volunteer for The Famous Wheeler Clothing & More Sale - for the scoop about this year's event. Here's what she had to say about it:

I am really excited for this opportunity to share and provide some “scoop” with all of you, about this year’s Famous Wheeler Clothing and More Sale!

Now in its 69th year, this “pop up” department store set up in the school’s gymnasium is truly a bargain shopper’s paradise!

Our theme this year is “Something For Everyone”, and I assure you from the inventory that I have seen, this is not only our theme, but also a promise to all who visit!

Let me first provide you with the “where”, “when” and “why”, and then our “fashion scoop”!

Where: The Wheeler School Gymnasium located at 407 Brook Street (between Angell and Meeting Streets) on the East Side of Providence.

When: April 6-8, 2017

And Admission is free!

Upon entering this truly astounding “pop up” department store, you will find new and gently-worn women’s, men’s and children’s clothing, books, sporting gear, household items, as well as games and toys.

And now here’s the scoop...

This year, we were very fortunate to have two local shop owners donate some gorgeous never-worn items to this year’s sale.

  • Jenna Stockman, the new owner of the relaunched Dorothy Williams (200 Wayland Avenue, Providence) has donated beautiful gowns and sportswear.
  • Teddy Bearskins gave a fabulous donation of children’s clothing as they made way for incoming merchandise at their new home at 5600 Post Road in East Greenwich.

In Addition to these amazing donations, the Clothing Sale has featured these designer labels: Alice & Olivia, Armani, Bloomingdale’s, Brunello Cucinelli, Calvin Klein, Free People, DKNY, Dolce & Gabbana, Gucci, Hermes, Jil Sander, Kate Spade, Kors, Marc Jacobs, Missoni, Nanette Lepore, Neiman Marcus, Prade, Theory, Tory Burch, 7 For All Mankind and many more…
