Wicked Awesome
Clippity clop.
It doesn’t get much spookier than rolling around an old cemetery in a horse drawn cart after dark, especiallly this time of year.
Exactly how we spent last night, on a group tour from the folks over at New Deal Horse And Carriage and NK Historian Tim Cranston.
Sweater Weather
In terms of prepping, charge up your phone to possibly have handy as a flashlight for getting to and from your vehicle, but forget the fotos (I-Phone photos at night? Naaaaaah) and focus more on settling in for a good listen. In addition, to keep the shivering from the cold at bay, you’ll want to wear the warmest of everything currently in your wardrobe. Knit hats, thick scarves, non-glam boots, winter wools - pile it on people! This is not the time to stress about hat hair or your lewk, unless it veers toward Mary Kate & Ashley Olsen during their NYU years (the early 2000’s) when they were wrapping themselves in things like oversized jackets and ginormous sweaters.
You might also want to pop over to Tavern By The Sea in nearby Wickford Village beforehand for some apps or small plates and a glass of pinot. I mean who knew they even had a 2nd floor?
Hey Boo!
Now back to the tour…Without giving too much away (because that would take all the fun out of it, right?), you’ll learn so much from the anecdotes and commentary from Mr. Cranston, including connections to a certain retailer that was in effect the Amazon of its day and the history of a popular network morning chat and news show.
Many hmmmm and ah-ha moments to be had.
The tour runs a little over an hour and it’s also an excellent idea to give yourself a few extra minutes (more than you might think initially…running late is our cardio) to locate the starting point because we had a few missteps en route, getting their just in the nick of time.
