This 'Christmas' Village Is Merry & Bright As Ever, So Make Weekend Plans With Your Crew
This week I found my Spotify playlist (with everything from Bing to Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?”) from last Christmas, and I motored back over to everyone’s favorite village, Wickford, where yet again they’re bringing the holiday spirit and style.
Whether you’re looking to shop small (The Captain’s Table, Green Ink, YES! Gallery, Serendipity, Teddy Bearskins, Sprigs, Wickford Gourmet Factory Outlet, Gossip, and so many more!), surround yourself with old timey Christmas magic, take some festive photos to show off on social, or a mix of all three, add The Wick to your weekend itinerary.
With that in mind then, here are some of the all decked out spots in the Village that you’ll want to see and experience for yourself right now.
Madly in love with this cozy cottage interior
Make the first stop on your tour this totes adorbs cottage, and the surrounding gardens, at the Wickford Collection, an interior design and furniture & accessories store on the outskirts of the Village on West Main Street. They won first place in the annual Holiday Display Contest, and you’ll understand why once you get a glimpse. The merry decor, attention to detail, and overall feel will have you ooh-ing and aah-ing and just in awe.
Mail call
Remember mail? The funny thing is that most of us (with something like 286 unread emails in our inboxes at any given time) really get a kick out of actual cards and letters that arrive via snail mail these days. And this red and white mailbox on Brown Street is such a whimsical, fun reminder of all those childhood memories of writing letters to the Santa (Do kids email now? Or text?), etc. Take a snap and move on to the next stops on your stroll.

Now, feel free to wander Brown Street and Main because pretty much everyone (residential or commercial) makes an effort to decorate for the season. Enjoy the vintage, old school Christmas aesthetic on display on doors, front stoops, fences, windows, etc.. It’s really quite charming and of course, so photogenic - perfect in fact for your Insta Stories or Facebook feed.
Dress code ~ I’m loving a La Canadienne (waterproof, warm and stylish) or Sorel Joan of Arctic Wedge boot right now. Winter in the OS (That’s Ocean state.) is all about cozy and comfy footwear that you can walk around in. Save the sky high heels or platforms for fancy Christmas parties when the actual walking will be minimal. Also, give in to hat hair because we lose something like 7-10% (at least!) of our body heat by not wearing something on our heads during the colder months.
