The PVD Restaurant Everyone's Going To Be Talking About This Summer
'Bout time Providence got another rooftop restaurant and bar!
Full disclosure, we've been anxiously awaiting the opening of Mare Rooftop on Wayland Square on the East Side for a while. Someone who shall remain nameless had actually tipped us off about it months ago. Of course, once a few friends and acquaintances started raving about it — Delicious salads! Generous pours! Unfortunately no I-Phone photos from these same people tho. **insert eye roll here** — knew we had to motor over and scope things out asap.
We were there this past Sunday night for there 4pm opening and first of all, hooray they have valet. The entry way, elevators, and entrance are also all very sleek and lux. Like something straight outta metros such as Boston or NYC (where rooftop bars are seemingly everywhere and no biggie at this point). That aesthetic extends into the actual restaurant. We were impressed in a jaw dropping sort way by the space itself as well as the views of Providence and beyond. And we weren't alone. Couples started filtering in just as soon as we had been seated on one side of their praiseworthy deck. Pro tip: get their just before sunset, so you'll have a primo seat to see it unfold and maybe snap a few photos for social while you're at it...because that's going to be the coveted pic to post from Mare starting this season.
We had a Margherita pizza (the vegetarian's fall back...there's so much more to sample on the menu from salads to pasta, fish, etc), fries (well worth the weekend indulgence), wine (wine-ing and views), and cappucinos, and can't wait to go back for a proper lunch or dinner. Also, rumor has it that brunch is in the cards in the not too distant future, so there's that. It's fast becoming the place to be (to see and be seen as they say!) this summer in the capital city, so plan accordingly.
