The PVD Pop-Up For You & Your Coffee Buddies
It's rare that I leave my house before at least having had a sip of coffee (three words - caffeine withdrawal headache), but did so yesterday and ultimately glad I did it! As is often the case, the story starts with an Instagram post that popped up in my feed...So, you probably already know Bolt Coffee. They have the shop in the lobby of The Dean in addition to their collaboration with RISD on The Pearl Cafe, unveiled a few years ago. Anywho, they're roasting their own coffee now (kind of a huge deal!), and in that new roasting space in the Smith Hill neighborhood in Providence, they're also doing a popup cafe every weekend this summer. With 4 or 5 drink options, a selecton of Knead donuts, and some neat signature merch including mugs and tote bags. (I hear they'll also be doing some special events or pop-ups within a pop-up if you will.)
So the coffee is incredible - I had a cappucino with oat milk and the hubs had a regular drip coffee (which he loved and equally as important, didn't bother his stomach...another side effect of mid-life is no longer being able to guzzle ginormous chain shop coffees loaded down with a half dozen sugar packets). The space is also superb. With some greenery as well as some retro
and rustic touches, they've taken a space that I'm guessing in another life was a garage and made it absolutely charming. Both Bloggable and Insta Worthy - as in, you will be seeing more of this third space in your feeds from a variety of IG'ers and Foodies in the OS and surrounding areas. Reminds me of something you might see in Allston or Jamaica Plain in Boston, Chelsea or the West Village in NYC. So, gather your coffee buddies next weekend (before your frenemies do) and motor over to 96 Calverly to get your caffeine on!
