This Wickford Shop Has A DIY Event Day After Thxgiving & It’s SEW Special

And Sew It Begins…

We’re one week out from Black Friday, that cray day on the calendar synonymous with waiting on line, doorbuster specials (not always what they’re cracked up to be, but whatevs), and on ocassion, brawls over whatever electronic or tech items trending (and seemingly, in short supply) during a particular holiday season.

Also, for the record, I’ve seen people almost come to blows over Uggs back when those were THE Christmas gift to give. (2011 was particularly intense with so many peeps desperate to get their hands on a pair of the knit bootie version with big buttons running up the side, the Ugg Classic Cardy boot, which was on Oprah’s “Favorite Things” list that year.)

If you’re looking for something more low-key and philanthropic to do this year, though, consider this heartwarming event happening in my favorite village in the OS.

Yes, this DAX (That’s retail shorthand for Day After Thanksgiving and has nothing to do with the actor, podcast host and husband of Kristen Bell of Frozen fame.), The Sew-Op in Wickford - where you can enroll in a variety of classes and workshops, sign up for private lessons, and there’s even a Summer CAMP for the kiddos - is hosting a day of stitching up pillowcases for Hasbro Children’s Hospital. You’re invited to thread the needle at their location on 14 Phillips Street or take a kit home.

And even if you don’t sew, I’ll bet dollars to donuts you know someone who does who would be tres interested. I mean, one of my best friends used to design and stitch her entire wardrobe back in the day. So, get the word out to those diy fans in your friend circle because this is an ideal way to pass a few hours on 11-29, all without any buyer’s remorse or having to sneak shopping bags into the house and hide purchases from your SO.

**Wish I had a current photo of their space because it is completely adorable.
