3 Spots In RI Where You Can Practice Social Distancing & Snap Some Sweet Spring Photos

Okay, around this same time last year, I was out exploring Jamestown.

It was a fairly carefree day of casual food and phone photos.

I mean, who could or would have ever guessed that this May would be so like-something-out-of-a-movie strange?

Well, I have news to brighten your day and put a little of that pre-Coronavirus spring back in your step.

First and foremost, my absolute favorite sandwich shop in that area, East Ferry Market + Deli, is in fact open for takeout.

Their patio is closed — but you can still call ahead and pick up sandwiches or muffins or whathaveyou to enjoy with your Quarantine Crew.

Then, you guys can feast on your eats whilst strolling the pier or sitting out by the water.

There are stunning views of the bridge to inspire some snaps and it’s also super easy to practice social distancing there, with masks on when not eating of course.

Next, since you’re already in the vicinity, why not drive by The Jamestown Windmill in the Windmill Hill Historic District?

Dating back to 1787, and added to the National Register of Historic Places in the late 1970's, it’s Insta Famous, and pre-COVID 19, attracted a variety of both professional and amatuer photogs from around Rhode Island and all over the country really. (Search it on IG and you will find a ton of images.)

And, you can take some fantastic photos without even getting out of your car.

You can’t get much safer than THAT, amirite?

So, roll down that window and use the zoom option on your phone or digital camera.

Also, if you’re in search of a change of scene for your daily strolls and mobile uploads for social, I spied a list of local parks that have reopened for Phase 1 and Forth Wetherill State Park in Jamestown has indeed gotten the nod.

Yep, you can channel your inner Madonna, circa her Borderline video and style arc from back in 1986 (as opposed to, say, those cringeworthy bathtub confessionals she started posting on IG when all this first started) at the former American Revolutionary Fort that’s on the premises.
