Whether you’re staying in the city this weekend (and wanting to do something funtastic with friends, your S.O., or both) or you’re pretty much always on the lookout for the latest and greatest goings on in Rhode Island, you simply cannot go wrong with these three destinations that have all been updated or revamped recently. Whilst we were busy switching out our closets from cold Spring attire to possible 70’s and 80’s wear for this coming week, or maybe trying to master Insta Stories (It can be a full time job at times, and it really does look like so many of you out there are living your best lives.), these Providence-based establishments have gone and kicked things up in a big way when it comes to aesthetics and ambience.

1. I’ve spent some time in NYC over the last few years and one thing I’ll say is that they get the connection between social media and restaurants or cafes. In other words, there are a healthy amount of coffee shops and eateries there with interior design features (selfie walls, lighting, matte surfaces) that lend themselves to being feautured in the best possible way on IG or Snap. Now, the folks over at The River Social at 200 Exchange Street (formerly occupied by Quay, literally situated on the cobblestone walkway overlooking the basin of the Providence River) have come on the scene with eats, photogenic cocktails, and an Insta Worthy wall that’s sure to all over social this season. Definitely somewhere to consider when making Water Fire plans with your crew.

2. It never fails - The patio at Olga’s on Point Street is always hopping this time of year! I mean, packed, and you never know who you’re going to run into there. It can be challenging just securing a table, though. The really great news is that they’ve expanded ty and even added art, in the form of a modern, ideal for a city-scape sculpture courtesy of the creatives over at The Avenue Concept. (And I hear there’s more in the works in terms of additions! 👏👏👏) So...plan accordingly.

3. There’s been a lot of talk about Graduate Hotels taking over what was formerly The Biltmore in Providence. But, frankly, they’ve managed to make over the space in an absolutely stunning way that still manages to pay tribute to the city’s history. (Take the Andre Leon Talley portrait below - Before taking the fashion world and Vogue by storm, Andre graduated from Brown Univ in ‘72 with a master’s degree in French Lit. - which I definitely want a picture in front of asap.) Also, they’re opening a new coffee shop today (Fri., May 24th). And, who the heck isn’t looking for a brand new place in the city to sip iced coffee and update their email from?
