This South County Cafe Is Perf For Your Next Foodie Adventure With Your Friends

I hear we’re getting a spring preview of sorts this weekend with temps up in the 60’s (can you believe?) and I cannot think of a better time to go check out BOL (which stands for Bowls Of Love), the plant-based “super food” cafe, in Wakefield, maybe even sit outside in the sun on the front patio.

They opened this their 3rd location (first is seasonal and in Welfleet, Massachusetts, and there’s another on the West Coast) last November and after a few false starts, I finally made it over yesterday afternoon about an hour before they were scheduled to close up shop.

Situated across from All That Matters Yoga, it’s a small but stylish, light filled space in the center of town with rustic seating, a black and rust red interior, and some greenery. It reminds me of an eatery or juice bar you might stumble across in Miami’s artsy Wynwood neighborhood or maybe the Melrose section in LA.

Whether you made a New Year’s resolution to start eating healthier (according to their site, the back story is that the owner apparently had a health crisis which led to her changing how she ate and ultimately to her opening that 1st location) or you’re on a mission to Instagram food that looks pretty (more about their menu in a sec), you’ll want to motor over to their brick and mortar soon.

I took this phoo yesterday at BOL at closing on my way out, prior to it was packed.

As you may have already guessed from the name, they are all about smoothie bowls.

After asking the lady who popped up to take my order what her faves were, I took a leap of faith and opted for her recommendation, the GRASS bowl (see photo below), which I enjoyed very much. Was unable to snap a photo of my actual order, though, because it was a little too bright with the sunlight streaming thru the side windows. (Also, I could NOT help overhearing the young women at the next table who were complaining about their college admissions related dramas and disappointments.)

Menu-wise, there are quite a few BOL’s to choose from, most named for colors, a few for plants, and one called simply EARTH. Guess it depends on your mood or nutrition goals on any given day. (The INDIGO, in particular, looks incredibly promising from an Instagram Foodie standpoint, just throwing THAT out there.)

You can also dip into a smoothie, vegan snacks, or one of their signature SuperMylk Lattes made with non-dairy milk and add-ins like turmeric, cacao or blue algae.

So, grab your BFF’s who are always up for new foodie adventures in the OS (probably smart to include someone who owns an I-Phone 11) and head over this weekend.
