This Tiverton Restaurant On The Water Is Perf For A Lunch Or Dinner Date This Weekend
It’s looking like a beautiful and unseasonably warm weekend. Last time I checked the weather app on my phone, Saturday is supposed to be sunny and in the 70’s. With a phenomenal for November forecast like this, I highly encourage you to make a reservation to dine somewhere outdoors on the water. I mean, that’s one of the perks of living in the Ocean State, amirite?
Now your first impulse might be to gravitate towards Newport and who could blame you?
You may, however, want to consider a Rhode Island coastal town classic, a restaurant that’s neither Insta Famous (translation: you won’t see mad amounts of IG food bloggers flocking there for selfies or flat lays) nor faddish, namely the Boat House restaurant. Overlooking the Mount Hope Bay, they’ve built their biz not on flash, but on consistently great food, service and ambiance.
We were there last Sunday and while the weather wasn’t anything to cheer about, our food was incredibly delicious. (See my photo below.) The hubs had a lobster roll and his other go-to, a ceasar salad with shrimp. Both were, according to him, scrumptious, and I’m not surprised because the Boat House prides itself on serving the freshest and best quality local seafood. I ordered a brushetta and a salad and both were superb. The salad, from dressing to add-ins, was a multi layered taste experience with different flavors and textures, and one of the best I’ve eaten this year. In addition, portion sizes were definitely pretty generous.
Also they have introduced an impressive amount of heaters to their patio space. On top of that, you’ll feel good seeing how all the tables are far apart or (in 2020 terms) socially distanced. I mean, what’s not to love? Especially with lotsa sun and mild temps here to stay for the next few days.
If this all sounds appealing, then by all means make a reservation for you and your significant other or a friend in your pod.
*The Boat House is located at 227 Schooner Drive in Tiverton.
