Some Frothy, Fun Things To Do While You're Home Practicing Social Distancing
Okay, ok, I was up before 4am drinking coffee and trying to push thru an online Whole Foods order via Amazon. My hopes were dashed, though, when I saw that door to door delivery for pretty much the next 24 hours was impossible. (Been seeing the words currently unavailable a lot this past week.)
Not gonna lie, I did run out not long after to pick up food and additional supplies for my family, but as of 10am this morn, I intend on staying put for the most part for the next week or so.
Now, whether you’re homebound this minute or planning to be this weekend, I’ve put together a list of activities (other than, say, over-indulging in hummus and crackers or brewing up a 3rd pot of coffee) for when you want a mini break and need a fluffy distraction from the news and views about COVID 19.
A Facebook friend posted about stress baking earlier, so now more than ever, why not Katharine Hepburn’s classic Brownies Recipe?
The RISD Museum just announced they will be closed for the next 2 weeks, but you can still take virtual tours of the Guggenheim, Musee d’Orsay in Paris, the Getty in LA, and more via Travel + Leisure.
Unroll your yoga mat and stretch everything out with a short, calming video or 2 from my fave online instructor, Tara Stiles. (And, who amongst us couldn’t use a moment of ZEN at this point in the story?)
Tune out for 30 to 60 minutes by tuning in to something gossip-y and light courtesy of FREE podcasts such as Danny Pellegrino’s Everything Iconic (The recent episode feauring Danny’s interview with reality star Brandi Glanville is a must listen for sure, especuially for any RHOBH fans!), Conan O’Brien Needs A Friend, or Rupaul’s What’s The Tee?
Stalk Tom Hank’s Insta to see if he posts any new updates from his and wife Rita’s Coronavirus quarantine in Australia. (If you do happen to miss it, rest assured that US Weekly, People, W, Allure, and Page Six will all probably be flooding your inbox with word.)
If online shopping’s more your thing, think seriously about supporting local makers and artisans (a few in my feed this morning include Parched PVD tees and JAVA Skincare) by patronizing their sites. Also, you may have already seen the “Do Your Part” post from Narragansett Beer that’s currently circulating on social, encouraging everyone to get gift cards from small businesses around Rhode Island (THIS goes doubly for CAFES and RESTAURANTS!) “to help keep them afloat” during this difficult and distressing time.
Well, that’s all for now.
Stay safe and keep washing your hands.
