These Rhody Rescues Have Dogs That Need Fostering & It Could Make Social Distancing A Little Less Ruff
If you are one of the 3.1 million people who follow the Thoughts Of A Dog account over on Twitter, then odds are you have already seen this recent post.
Initially I chuckled over it, just realizing now, though, that it’s a sweet example of why this could be the time to take in a foster dog, even if only for a week or two.
Also, in case you were wondering, both the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) and WHO (World Health Organization) have issued statements saying that companion animals (dogs, cats, etc) are NOT in danger of catching or spreading the Coronavirus.
Furthermore, dogs don’t care if you’ve decided to stay in your mismatched or ratty looking pajamas all day long, if you need a haircut, or that your roots are growing in. Dogs aren’t here to judge. They would absolutely love, however, to join in on one of your daily social distancing-style strolls around the neighborhood.
Rhode Home Rescue’s taken to calling it a “pup-ternity” leave. (Wish I’d thought of THAT!) Call it what you will, the reality is that they and a laundry list of other local shelters are scrambling right now to adjust to the current Coronavirus (COVID 19) health crisis by having to close their doors and only open to potential adopters by appointment, with the expectation of an influx of pets in need of rehoming because their owners are sick or struggling financially during this devastating time.

Take care - no but really,
