Last summer they unveiled a number of exciting outdoor installations around the state, including Rhode Island’s very first selfie wall (a colorful set of ginormous angel wings by artist James Mustin that igers around these parts — including yours truly — were eager to locate and post from just soon as it was completed at the beginning of May 2019) off Broad Street in Providence, not far from Trinity Square.
Well, The Avenue Concept, the PVD based non-profit launched in 2012 by RISD alum Yarrow Thorne that has helped usher in a sort of public art renaissance around the Ocean State, is at it again.
A few weeks ago, they rolled out an ambitious list of brand-y new murals that are scheduled to go up in the coming weeks and months.
One featuring a dog and cat theme, spray painted by Rhody based Joanna Vespia, an artist who specializes in pet portraits, at the New England Humane Society’s headquarters in Cumberland, is already up.

In keeping with their tradition of teaming up with both local and national talent, coming up this month, TAC is bringing graffiti artists Osteo and Geser, Florida street artist Hiero, and Massachusetts based Jimboe to sites around the capital city to work their magic.
