I Had My Brows Laminated Last Week At Studio B Salon In Warwick, And Wow

I’ve spent the last ten years looking for a gel, powder or pencil that would make my eyebrows look fuller. They used to be thick (I have the receipts, er, photos from the 1980’s), but then the 90’s happened. In those days pretty much every tv star (hellooooo, ladies on the tv show Friends) and supermodel had pencil thin brows. And well, you can guess the rest.

Of course nowadays, fluffy and (dare I say) more dramatic looking brows are everywhere, which leaves those of us with over-plucked ones scrambling for something, anything that will make ours look au courant.

Enter Steve, the owner and proprietor at Studio B Salon in Warwick, who recently invited me in to have my brows laminated. I was intrigued and having never heard of this particular treatment before, did some online research. First off, I loved that lamination is not as big of a commitment as, say, microblading which (tbh) I’ve heard both good and not-so-good things about over the years. Also, I really liked that the whole process takes less than hour from start to finish.

When the day of my appointment arrived, I was unsure of what exactly to expect and even wondered if it would work for me. (My brow hairs are also greying, causing them to disappear, only making matters worse.) Kristi who did my lamination, and tinting, put me at ease almost immediately. She explained the multi step process (more about that in a second) clearly and made me feel comfortable about everything. Before I knew it my eyebrows were on their way to being transformed for the better. (See photo below.)

If you’re curious about the before and after image above, I can tell you that: my brows were (1) gently cleansed with a micellar water and brushed upwards to prep them for the lamination. Next, (2) a perm-like solution (not the best smell in the world but it’s only on for 10 minutes tops) to relax the hairs was applied and the area was covered with plastic wrap. Immediately following, brows were cleaned and re-brushed. Then it was time to do (3) some tinting. (This was optional. Highly recommend, however, especially if yours are going grey.). The last step was (4) a lamination cream that helps hydrate the hairs (this is key to having them pop later) and sits for around another 10 minutes. Once that was removed, my brows were cleaned up a bit — because stray hairs are forever an issue — and I was ready to go.

Once back on the outside, I had to remember NOT to get the newly laminated arches wet for 24 hours. With that in mind, I “washed” my face that night using wipes, just to be safe. I also couldn’t apply any make to them for 48 hours. Not a problem, though, because I did not need to use any of my usual gels or powders. My eyebrows stood out all on their own. (See photo below.) My sister even gave me a compliment, saying how fabulous she thought they looked post-BL.

The brow lamination lasts for around 2 months. The tint, a little less. (Maybe 6 weeks?)

I will tell you that I would definitely go back again for both. My arches have not looked this good in ages! I notice a major difference in terms of how they bring out my eyes now when I’m wearing a mask when I’m out and about.
