Have An Ice Day Or Night Skating In Providence This Month
Apparently, the idea of putting an ice rink in Providence had been floating around since the 1970’s.
Now, let’s flash forward to 1998 when what is now known as the Bank Newport City Center (formerly Alex & Ani) officially opened to the public.
Whether you’re looking for some time out-of-doors with the kiddos (or the GRANDkids) or a date night with your s.o., City Center is a terrific spot for stretching your legs and showing off your moves while listening to some good tunes (never underestimate the importance of having a soundtrack).
Hold On To Your Hat Or Beanie
The ice bumper cars, which premiered to a lotta hoopla back in 2017 — I took some video that winter and it ended up getting reposted by a ton of buzz-y sites — are a marvelous option if like me, you’re NOT the most coordinated skater.
Let’s just say the hubs has 20+ years experience zipping around on ice because he played hockey in high school, and I on the other hand have a multi decade track record of falling on my arse.
That being said, The Providence Rink does indeed offer skating lessons and other add-ons to make your time there the absolute best it can be.
And the ice will be around until March, so you still have plenty of time to book a block of time there.
As I understand it, come spring & summer, it pivots to ROLLER skating and in conjunction with the Super Fun Activities Club, there’s also things like dodgeball and soccer.
They are open daily from 10 to 10. For additional info, and to reserve your three (3) hours at The Rink, hop on over to their site.
As always, if you motor over after reading this, do let them know you were inspired by Patty J and PattyJ.com.
