A Dreamy Speakeasy And Vintage Boutique In East Providence, Rhode Island
Myrtle, open in East Providence on Waterman Avenue for about two months, is both whimsical and cozy.
It is the only local establishment that I’m aware of that features a lounge space (with an area for live performance) AND a vintage shop.
Wait, whatttt?
Yes, you heard correctly.
Across from Jeff’s Pizza, this place is an enchanting mix of plush seating, warm lighting (by way of antique chandeliers, fixtures and lamps throughout), and playful touches (like a longhorn skull over the entry to the boutique room).
Imagine if your favorite antique store or your eccentric aunt (Yes, we just rewatched Auntie Mame) added craft sips and music. Or maybe your eccentric aunt left you her house full of charming furnishings and whatnot and you opened a bar.
Yes, it’s THAT GOOD.
A friend of mine took his gf there for a date night recently and messaged me afterwards to say he was surprised I hadn’t been there yet.
That being said, I made a mental note to get there asap and I did last night around 5:30-ish.
The bartender proprietor Tommy (one of the two owners of this phenomenal establishment) was super friendly and checked in with us to make sure we liked our drinks, et cetera.
Regulars rave about the atmosphere (no surprise there), the welcoming vibe (I concur), and the various drinkies (something for every mood, from beer to martinis and beyond).
This place is DREAMY. Like something out of a 90’s indie movie. Get there before everyone in your circle starts buzzing about it.
