There's A Sweet New Spot In Providence For Waffles And Wow
Used to be if you wanted authentic Belgian waffles, you might have to motor over the state line.
Well, not anymore…because Zinneken’s has opened an outpost on Providence’s East Side. (Other locations include Harvard Square and Glastonbury, CT. They also have a truck that pops up around Boston proper.)
Open on Angell Street since December 2022, this modern and sunny shop has an area in the back with tables if you want to eat in and also offers (in-the-vicinity) delivery and takeout.
First off, you have a lot of options which is fun. You can opt for either their “soft and chewy” Liege Waffle or their “light and crispy” Brussels one.
Next, you can choose to create your own with fresh fruit, sweets or different syrups. Or pick from their menu with enchanting creations like Strawberry Glamour (the hubs ordered THAT, see photo below) and Dame Blanche.
I got one topped with a ton of blueberries, strawberries and raspberries — and it was DIVINE!
They also have a terrific selection of herbal teas which I personally have been gravitating to for afternoon sips these days.
Such a sunny vibe there yesterday too!
The team was friendly and nice, brought over our drinks and plates with smiles.
And the table next to us was a group of kiddos and parents feasting on waffles and ice cream.
