Dinner At The South Count, Rhode Island Restaurant Everyone Raves About

I can’t tell you how many people have been raving to me about their dinners at Plum Point Bistro in Saunderstown recently.

You know…Family. Friends. Friends of friends. Friends on social.

Well, the other night the hubs and I motored over for an early din din (they open at 4pm which I LOVE) and gotta say…I get it, I get WHY this place is consistently packed.

The outside has a South County beach house sorta energy, with Adirondack chairs on the front lawn, a wild flower (pollinator) garden near the entrance, and a wood shingled exterior that’s text book Rhody rustic.

We didn’t make reservations but because we were there right when they opened, we were able to get a nice table. (Highly recommend making reservations when you go because it fills up quite quickly after 5pm.)

The service was on point (happy to report that they give you water and bread as soon as you’re seated which used to be standard…a lot of restaurants have gotten away from this unfortunately), the food was incredible (the hubs got a bistro version of fish & chips and I opted for the grilled polenta with mushrooms which was a delight…always thrilled to see meat-less options on local menus and they had a few), and the decor is beyond charming.

This is a marvelously cozy and stylish but not snooty spot for drinks and dinner with your significant other. Or your best pals.

Regulars go gaga over their calamari, mussels, pasta, and steaks.

Also, the creative cocktails. (There wasn’t one single empty seat at the baaaah the other nite, lol.)
