The Cute Bakery Cafe In The East Bay For Your Next Coffee Break Or Bread Run
Just happened on a new-to-me bakery cafe on Water Street in Warren across from ByWater. (They’ve been open since January 2024, and how have I NOT heard of them?)
Yep, The Bakeshop is indeed worth checking out whether you want a coffee drink (I hear they use local gem Bolt Coffee), tea, a Warren FOG (their spin on the classic London Fog), some baked goods, or avo toast.
I tried the SESAME OATMEAL and the SALTED CHOCOLATE CHIP cookies on Sunday, and both were unexpected flavor combos that were ultimately still quite yummy.
If you’re a bread lover — and who isn’t? — they also specialize in naturally leavened BREADS, which (I’m pretty sure) means that the preparation includes a wild yeast as opposed to a commercial one.
The interior of this historic building at 277 Water Street looks FANTASTIC, too.
It’s all been redone with light wood; on top of that, there’s lotsa light, plenty of tables to pull up chairs to, and even a window nook in front with bench seating and pillows.
Regulars are raving about their quiche, scones, lattes, Warren Fogs, and croissants.
