We Just Found Your New Favorite Breakfast Spot In Wakefield, Rhode Island

We first stumbled on RI Guys Donuts (the cakes specifically) at Dave’s market last year, and now my whole family, they are super fans.

If you haven’t tried one yet, it’s time to take the plunge and pick one up for treat nite dessert or company. (I hear they also make custom ones for birthdays and holidays, too.)

More recently, the hubs and I zipped over to the RI Guys Donuts shop on Kingstown Road in Wakefield, and turns out, it’s a terrific collab featuring their donuts and cakes as well as bagels from Gansett’s own Coffee N’ Bagel Connection.

I mean, is there a tastier way to support two such wonderful local Rhody businesses?

These are classic, old school if-you-will style donuts. No bells and whistles. These are pillow-y light — heavenly perhaps — donuts hand cut and made with super fresh ingredients that may take you back to your childhood and the hey days of such things. They also have the cakier (is that a word? it should be darn it!) varieties like their famous coffee cake donuts or the maple cream.

We got 3 topped with sprinkles and 3 topped with strawberry cream. Both were delish (they melt in your mouth). Gotta say that my personal favorite was the one with the multi-color sprinkles.

Speaking of faves, regulars sing the praises of their Boston Cream, Jelly, and Fruity Pebbles. Psst…Anyone with gluten issues will be thrilled to hear that they do offer gluten free items.

And we couldn’t leave without ordering a couple of breakfast sandwiches made with those Coffee N’ Bagel Connection bagels which did not disappoint.

Add a hot or cold beverage (Tom had a hot chocolate and me? a cuppa coffee) and you’ve got a first rate breakfast or brunch.
