Greetings From RI: Three Things To Do To Look And Feel Prettier This Summer

My black Havaianas

My black Havaianas

Over the last 6 months, I’ve made a lot of changes – from my job (retail to blogging) to my wardrobe (pencil skirts to denim) to my nose (big to small). In the process, I’ve learned a few things about taking care of myself that I’m going to share with you while I sit here getting a spa pedicure:

1. Don’t listen to Tom Ford – It’s perfectly ok to wear rubber flip flops when its’s 85 degrees outside, provided you go out and get yourself a spa pedicure. Working on this as we speak @  Blue Sky, which I love for many reasons, most especially because they use Aveda and Essie polish . (Highly recommending both Aveda Hand Repair and Essie in Mademoiselle for it’s clean look.)

2. If your eyebrows look good, then everything else falls into place. In other words, you don't need a lot of other makeup (which, in the heat and humidity, will probably melt right off anyway). The best place for tweezing your eyebrows? The rear view mirror of your car in broad daylight. (Even my sister agrees and we rarely agree that much.) My fav tweezers are by Anastasia and I keep a pair stashed in my bag at all times for this very purpose.

3. Drink Coconut Water. My fav is 100% Raw by Harmless Harvest. (I get it at – where else – Whole Foods.) Even if you don’t Pure Barre or yoga it up at Essence, coconut water is an easy way to feel better about your body and yourself. All that potassium is excellent for you. And it’s also a big conversation starter. People see you drinking it and will inevitably ask you why you drink it, what it does. I usually tell people it’s anti-aging and then, sit back and wait for their reaction.

Ciao For Now,

*Or, in case you care about what the NY Times says (something about how coconut water and plain water offer the same benefits), just grab a glass water bottle and ramp up your H20 consumption. Either way, it’s a win win.
