There's A Cute New Spot In PVD's Little Italy For Carryout Eats, Drinks, And Sweets

Think Olive This Place!

There’s a brand new spot for takeout on The Hill, Providence’s “Little Italy,” on Atwells Ave and I could not wait to share it with you here on the blog. It reminds me of something you might find on a street in a non-touristy neighborhood in Rome or Florence.

We were there yesterday and in addition to snapping a dozen or more photos of the facade (believe me, if you haven’t already, you are going to be seeing an abundance of pics of the bright blue frontage and yellow overhang at Massimo2Go in your feeds real soon) I also discovered a type of sweet popular in certain parts of Italy that prior to checking out their menu on Thursday around 3 o’clock I had never ever heard of. And I was raised by an Italian-American mom.

I’m talking about a bombolone or an Italian filled donut, which is apparently ubiquitous in Tuscany and Romagna. (See my photo below.) We ordered a half dozen, 3 with Nutella and 3 with cannoli cream to dip into at home. Now I prefer the ones with the cannoli filling, but highly encourage you to get your hands on some of both asap and figure out which ones you like best.

If you’re not a big fan of doughnuts, do not despair because they have a full menu of other delectable and delightful eats and drinks including: espresso, cocktails-to-go, italian sodas, paninis and subs, parmesan fries, and gelato.

Massimo2Go is located right next door to the original restaurant at 134 Atwells. Get there before all the local foodies and IG bloggers swoop in and start posting like mad on social.
