Get Cozy At This Recently Reopened Providence Restaurant
When I was a manager at Nordstrom Providence — maybe I helped you back in the day? — we had our annual luncheon for the store’s tippity top sales people at Waterman Grille on Richmond Square one year. (I wore a black knit jacket with absolutely horrible shoulder pads that still haunts me to this day.)
We went back for lunch yesterday, and it’s our first time back since they reopened after closing in October because of a fire.
Well, the restaurant looks better than ever (super cozy and cheer-y for New Year’s Day…adore it on a mild and sunny day in the Spring and Summah around these parts as well) and the food was yum.
The squash donut special (yes, I said SQUASH) was an unexpectedly delish treat. I mean, there’s a lesson there and it is that you should always listen to the server when they explain the specials of the day. (Although a wait person at the now shuttered Duck & Bunny once chastised me for being on my phone back in the 2010’s.)
We kicked things off with two (2) tasty mocktails. I’ve said it before and will indeed say it again — LOVE, love, love a zero proof sip. One was lemonade based (the Basil 75) and the other was tea based (the TOST Rose). Both were flavorful and are nice options especially if you’re giving Dry January a whirl.
Tommy Toronto had the burger. Now the story is that the one on the lunch menu was a French Onion style but Tom wanted more of a traditional version and they wre kind enough to do that for him. Two words — much appreciated!
I got the Country Style Mushrooms because when all is said and done, anything fried and served with gravy is my jam. (This is a super option for anyone wanting to eat vegetarian also.)
